Going into the new year of a brand new decade it can be easy to focus on what you haven't done and what you want to do. It can be terrifying and absolutely paralyzing if you feel like a failure that hasn't accomplished much in your life.
Please just press pause and reflect briefly on your life...
You may say that there are no good things in your life. You may say that everyone has abandoned you, that your life is a complete failure, you're in a dead-end job, in a sucky relationship, you flunked out of school, washed out of the military, were evicted from your apartment, you don't have any money to pay your bills for this month etc.
Or you could be on the other end of the spectrum where you have succeeded in everything that you have put your hands to do but you still feel like you have not accomplished everything that you have wanted in life.
Every time you turn around you feel as though someone is telling you that you still do not measure up. You hear whispers saying " You need to work harder and longer and better than the next person." You feel like you're always fighting for that next rung on the ladder of success.
For 2020 my suggestion to you is to stop. Inhale. Exhale. Look around and notice life.
Really notice it. Feel & hear the wind, smell & hear the rain.
Let's not get so wrapped up in what we don't have and what we have not done that we forget about the things we have.
I'm not saying being miserable is the best you're ever going to do and don't expect your life to ever get better.
I'm not saying that since you could be doing worse, just suck it up. You always want to do better.
I am saying, don't beat yourself up and live a life of regret. You want to continue to have forward progress, to have momentum. To continue to have a mindset of "I am moving through this. I am moving past this", "My best days are yet to come.", "This is not my destiny, this is not my future, this is my present." "My present does not mean it will be pervasive and persistent." My present circumstance is a season and seasons are temporary they come and they go they are not a life sentence."
There is something good in you. You finally need to realize that and let it shine in 2020. Magnify the good.
